PSL 1 Winner The first edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was held in 2016 and the winner of the tournament was Islamabad United. They beat Quetta Gladiators in the final, held on 23 February 2016, to become the champions of the first PSL tournament. In the final, Islamabad United won the toss and chose to field first. Quetta Gladiators scored 174/6 in their allotted 20 overs, with Kevin Pietersen scoring a quickfire 74 off just 45 balls. In response, Islamabad United chased down the target with two balls to spare, thanks to a brilliant knock of 63 not out by captain Misbah-ul-Haq. opener Sharjeel Khan also played a crucial role, scoring 41 off just 22 balls. With this win, Islamabad United became the first tea tom lift the PSL trophy and they will always be remembered as the pioneers of Pakistan Super League's success.
